ME HERE NOW

Chris Silvia's Lyin ass dog. This piece caught my eye because I always do this figure when I do shadow puppets. I like how the artist took this literally and when I was looking at this piece I looked at my hands and did the dog thing. I feel that this art makes people look beyond the painting and it has a value that makes the view do that hand gesture.
Question: What's your inspiration for all your paintings?

I CAN FEEL THE CITY BREATHING

Don Porcella's work. This art piece caught my eye because of the Air Jordan shoe. Then I looked closer and realize that a leg and foot is still attached to the shoe, and then I read the explanation on the blog saying that the brand is even more popular than the player. He mainly uses pipe cleaners. The pipe cleaners bring a weird texture but this has powerful imagery with the severed leg. I would've never guessed that this piece was made of pipe cleaners. It's very clean and pieced together very well.

John Dahlsen's "Black Lake". What caught my attention is the style of the wall work, I love the 3 panel design of it and like the contrast of the colors. The materials used in the piece is found rope in between black driftwood and plastic objects painted black.

Erik Otto's Slow Journal piece. The painting on the house is colorful and the faces are gnarly. It's simple but its a powerful abstract piece. I think it's really cool that he found a tricycle and made a mini house/hut with reclaimed wood. Materials: tricycle, reclaimed wood, spray paint, ropes, and textured wood.

Virginia Fleck's Sunday Paper Color. This piece caught my eye mainly because it resembles a sun. The materials were mostly paper bags and tape. But from a far you can't even
recognize that this piece was made out of paper bags. It looks so well put together and cut together that the edges don't look rough and the points are perfect. Since this was just a photograph, I wonder how this piece was displayed in galleries and I wonder how it looks 3-D and how it looks from the side.

Jen Stark-Coriolis Effect. Materials used were hand-cut paper on wood backer. This piece is awesome the papers were cut precisely to make the piece pop out. The colors seemed well thought-out because the colors are hypnotizing. And give the feeling of the papers bursting out in front of you. I really want to see this piece in person.
